Gary

"Every step is a good step."

For those of us who have ever hacked our way down the golf course, we can appreciate the natural talent and hard work it takes to become a tournament champion. Gary golfed only off and on since the 1970’s. But he didn’t start golfing seriously until 1994, and in such a short time, is now one of the world’s top amputee golfers.

Gary holds numerous titles, including the 1998 National Amputee Golf Association (NAGA) Championship in the below-knee division and the 2003 NAGA Senior Championship. His next goal is to attend the Senior PGA Tour’s Qualifying School in November, which he became eligible for in February when he turned 50.

Over two years ago, Gary was fit with the revolutionary Harmony® Socket Enhancement System and TEC© Double Wall™ Socket – and he claims he has not had a problem with his residual limb since. Out on the golf course, Gary sees amputee golfers removing their prostheses, and adding socks just to get through a round. Gary can walk 18 holes – with every step as a good step – and still go home and be active with his family.

A former restaurant owner of 25 years – specializing in ribs – Gary is now part of the sales team for Otto Bock Health Care. Traveling around the country, he is golfing – and teaching others about the benefits Harmony.

###

Otto Bock Health Care’s Harmony Socket Enhancement System, a prosthetic breakthrough created to improve an amputee’s overall quality of life, expand their physical boundaries, and give them back the freedom to live a more active lifestyle. With its one-of-a-kind VASS™ (Vacuum Assisted Socket System) technology, the Harmony addresses the very common and painful problem for lower limb amputees of residual limb volume fluctuation.
