Brad

"I was convinced this computer-controlled leg I was hearing about was just a lot of hype. I've probably never been so wrong."

As one of the first C-Leg® wearers in the United States, 28-year old Brad had some reservations about what the world’s first microprocessor-controlled knee would mean to him and to amputees worldwide. All he knew was that the car accident at age 17 that meant the loss of his leg had also dashed his dreams of enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. Simply walking without falling had become a daily challenge.

He’s now unabashedly one of the C-Leg’s greatest advocates, declaring it has proven itself time and again with the stability it offers. Even more, as a Prosthetist, Kennedy has personally fit nearly two dozen of his own patients with the C-Leg. He is continuously looking for ways to help his patients’ lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

He hasn’t given up on serving his country, either, and he has successfully enlisted in the Mississippi State Guard. He’s looking to new horizons overseas as well, training to cross Europe on his bicycle. With a little help from some amazing technology, he has no doubt he’s more than fit for the job.

The C-Leg® Knee System enables Brad to walk down stairs and maneuver rough terrain with confidence. It is programmed to his needs using PC-compatible software. The sensors in his C-Leg measures his movements 50 times per second immediately adjusts the knee functions to compensate. This allows Brad to walk, bike or move in a very natural way.

Brad also uses a highly-engineered foot that complements his C-Leg, built to match his high activity level and ensure that he gets wherever he chooses to go.
