Otto Bock Unveils New C-Leg® With Added Features

10/13/2006

Oakville, Ontario October 13th 2006 – Otto Bock introduces a new version of the C-Leg® microprocessor knee, with new features designed to give wearers more independence.

In response to suggestions from both prosthetists and the people who use it, this latest generation of Otto Bock’s revolutionary C-Leg® now includes:

  • A standing mode that gives wearers the ability to easily lock the C-Leg® at a variety of flexion angles, so that they can relax while standing without switching into 2nd Mode
  • A handheld remote to switch between modes
  • Adapting Swing Phase Dynamics, which enable minor adjustments to swing flexion resistances without the hassle of an office visit

It’s this kind of advanced thinking that recently won the C-Leg® the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s da Vinci Award® for exceptional design and engineering. This award recognizes outstanding innovations that help people with disabilities.

“Nine years ago, we introduced the first C-Leg®, which has become world renowned for prosthetic fitting on the highest level," said Mark Agro, Vice President and General Manager, Otto Bock Healthcare Canada. "Today, we are elated to introduce the new
C-Leg®, which has been further developed according to market requirements. We are certain that the added features will offer the patient more independence and freedom to carry on with their lives.”
