Otto Bock HealthCare Introduces the Next Generation 3R80 Knee
Based on the principle of rotary hydraulics, Otto Bock Healthcare’s 3R80 knee greatly enhanced the mobility potential for lower limb amputees when it was first introduced in 1996. Now, this next generation of the 3R80 expands these horizons even further, with the addition of dynamic stance phase stability as well as dynamic swing phase control.
The list of features and benefits associated with the new 3R80 defies its compact size. This latest iteration of the popular knee includes simplified adjustment possibilities, as well as new tools for adjusting the joint. What’s more, the new knee boasts an increased weight limit of 125 kg or 275 lbs.
Progressive damping is the key to the enhanced mobility the 3R80 provides. Now, damping begins only at a knee flexion of 30 degrees, then increases progressively from that point. “The result can be appreciated by all types of users – smaller, lighter or larger, heavier - less active users realize vast improvements in comfort, while more active users are able to attain a higher walking speed.” Natalie Jones Market Manager – Technical Orthopedics.
